Our Grandmother~Elzina Henrie Laney


1915 ~ 2009
Elzina Laney, 93, was reunited with her sweetheart Fayne on June 12, 2009. She passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her children.Elzina was born August 25, 1915 to Harriet Thomas and Daniel Eugene Henrie in Ferron, Utah. She grew up in Springville, Utah and graduated from Springville High School where she met her eternal sweetheart, Fayne Laney. They were married in the Logan Temple, September 6, 1935. She raised her family in Salt Lake and Springville and later lived in Mesa, Arizona, returning to Utah in the 1980's. She and Fayne moved to Payson in 1995. Her husband passed away March 10, 2003.Elzina loved dancing, sewing, singing, interior decorating and social entertaining, and she always kept an immaculate home. She served as PTA President and served in several service organizations. She was a member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers. She was a member of the L.D.S. Church and served many years as Primary President and in the R.S. and Y. W. Presidencies. She served a mission with her husband in the North Carolina, Charlotte mission in 1984, a Temple Mission in the Mesa, Arizona Temple, and a Stake Mission.Elzina is survived by four children: Kathleen Laney Cook, Payson; Annette Laney Bowring, Overland Park, Kansas; Stephen Fayne Laney ( Elizabeth), Payson; Eugene Henrie Laney, Shell Knob, Missouri; 18 grandchildren, 44 great-grandchildren, and 9 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Fayne, 2 brothers, 4 sisters, one grandson (Michael Laney), and 2 great-grandsons (Kory Baker & Josh Hayes).Services will be Saturday, June 20, 2009, 12 Noon, in the West Mountain 2nd Ward Chapel, 902 West 400 North, Payson. Friends may call at the Walker Mortuary, 587 South 100 West, Payson, Friday, 6-8:00 p.m. or at the Church Saturday, 10:45-11:45 a.m. Burial will be in the Springville City Cemetery.Condolences may be sent to the family at: http://www.walkerfamilymortuary.com/
