THE TINGLER

When I was a teenager I often babysat my nieces and nephews, but I was always at the mercy of my big brother Dean on the ride home after babysitting his kids. Right before I’d get out the car he’d always say in a creepy voice, “Watch out for the ‘Tingler’!” And then, to add insult to injury, as I was walking past the front of the car towards my house, he’d lay on his horn and scare the livin’ bajeebees out of me. Not long ago I asked Dean what the “Tingler” was. He couldn’t remember, but he thought it was someone like the Boston Strangler. Later, after a little research, we figured it was one of those B-movies that he watched as a teenager with our cousins Bobby and Ricky. On my birthday this year, Peter surprised me with a video from Netflix: The Tingler. I have to admit it wasn’t that bad. It would actually make a really fun Halloween flick to watch with your friends. Check out the “spine tingling” plot below and watch the trailer!!!

Plot
A pathologist, Dr. Warren Chapin (played by Vincent Price), discovers that the tingling of the spine in states of extreme fear is due to the growth of a "tingler"—a spinal parasite which can kill the host unless it is destroyed by screaming. An acquaintance of the pathologist, whose wife (Judith Evelyn) is mute and cannot scream, uses his discovery to frighten her to death. In an autopsy, Dr. Chapin removes the Tingler from the wife's spine. The slug-like creature soon escapes, and mayhem ensues.
